Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden engagement ring – pictures

In contrast to Swedish custom, Prince Daniel decided to give Crown Princess Victoria a diamond engagement ring.

In the past, royal couples in Sweden exchanged plain gold bands as a symbol of their engagement – including the bride and groom.

Therefore, King Carl XVI Gustaf, Victoria’s father, wears a magnificent golden engagement ring, just like his wife, Queen Silvia of Sweden.

Victoria and Daniel, however, adopted the more recent Western tradition for their engagement in 2009.

Almost exactly a year before their wedding, Victoria’s engagement ring was seen shining on her fourth finger on her left hand.

Maxwell Stone, the creative director at Steven Stone, told Express.co.uk: “If I were to estimate, I’d have to say the solitaire is between two and three carats and no doubt of excellent quality.

“It is set perfectly on a white gold band, with a design that’s classic, timeless and sophisticated.”

The expert provided an estimated value for the jewel: “This ring is probably worth around £75,000 to £100,000.”

In the Swedish Royal Family, Crown Princess Victoria clearly set a tradition with engagement rings that other couples have since followed.

For example, in 2014, Prince Carl Phillip proposed to model Sofia Hellqvist with a round diamond surrounded by a ring of smaller diamonds set on a pavé band.

Similarly to Victoria’s ring, this jewel was not a plain gold band like the Swedish royals wore in the past.

In addition, Prince Daniel gave Victoria a second jewel on their wedding day in the form of a diamond-studded wedding band.

On her left hand, Crown Princess Victoria now typically wears the two rings together.

The ring tends to slide off to the side of her finger rather than staying in the middle, which is a flaw fans have noticed in the design.

Crown Princess Victoria could be seen wearing both rings at her son Prince Oscar’s christening in 2016.

From this angle, royal fans could see the details of the simple, effective setting of both Victoria’s rings.
