Gigi Hadid celebrated Indian culture with her gilded red carpet look.
The supermodel attended the lavish opening weekend of the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Center (NMACC) in Mumbai this weekend. For the special occasion, Hadid wore an ensemble honoring the country’s traditional fashion, consisting of a stunning custom gilded sari by the esteemed label Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla.
The two piece gown featured a golden jewel and a sequin-adorned cropped top with a V-neckline, short sleeves, and dangling beaded trim. The accompanying pasted-yellow skirt was dotted all over with silver sequins and embroidered with a golden trim, and a swath of fabric from the skirt was draped across Hadid’s torso and over her left shoulder.

Hadid completed the look with golden accessories, including pointed-toe jeweled heels, opulent gold stacked bangles, statement earrings with square gemstones, and a diamond ring by Ritique. Her dark-blonde hair was slicked back, and her glam look included a rosy blush and a new lip.
The model also shared a close up of the sari’s ornate embroidery and her jewelry on Instagram, with a caption providing more detail about the process of creating the piece.
“This Chikankari sari was made in the Lucknow region of India, & took a year to craft: each woman who worked on it specialized in a different stitch. Thank you [Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla] for the honor of wearing this creation of a look !!!” she wrote.
The grand opening of India’s new landmark cultural center was attended by A-listers from around the globe, including Zendaya and Tom Holland, and Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas. The grand event also included an exhibit showing the impact of Indian textiles and traditional styles in the global fashion industry.
